Campos, Mallorca
This project focuses on the restoration of a traditional Mallorcan house connected to a historic agricultural estate in the rural landscape of Campos. The intervention is guided by a deep respect for the existing architectural heritage, preserving the identity of the ensemble formed by the house and the adjoining mill while adapting it to contemporary standards of comfort and everyday living.
The proposal improves the spatial quality of the existing dwelling through a careful reorganisation of the interior while maintaining the original character of the building. The new layout creates a more fluid relationship between spaces and strengthens the connection with the surrounding landscape. Traditional elements of Mallorcan architecture — stone walls, pitched roofs with handmade clay tiles, timber and natural materials — are preserved and reinterpreted through a contemporary approach.
The project combines heritage preservation with improved energy performance, introducing constructive solutions that enhance comfort while respecting the authenticity of the building. The agricultural mill is carefully consolidated, maintaining its original character and role within the estate. Outdoor spaces are reconnected with the Mediterranean landscape through lightweight structures, native vegetation and traditional water collection systems. The result is an architecture that preserves the memory of the place while creating a sensitive balance between heritage, nature and contemporary living.
